Energy Bureau guides green hydrogen projects for supporting northern wind and solar bases
On 2026年7月15日, the National Energy Administration convened a symposium in northern provinces with abundant new energy resources to discuss green hydrogen projects supporting large-scale wind and solar bases.
I. Policy Direction
The meeting proposed encouraging electrolytic hydrogen production facilities to be integrated with large-scale wind and solar bases, utilizing surplus daytime renewable energy for hydrogen generation to effectively address the challenge of renewable energy curtailment.
II. Key Areas
Prioritize filing applications for integrated wind, solar, and hydrogen projects in Yellow River basin regions such as Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Ningxia. These areas have abundant renewable resources and offer a natural advantage for large-scale green hydrogen development.
III. Supporting Policies
The National Energy Administration stated it will refine policies for new energy grid connection, providing favorable conditions for wind-solar-hydrogen integrated projects through measures such as priority grid access and preferential electricity pricing.
IV. Project Progress
Multiple integrated wind, solar, and hydrogen projects in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and other regions are currently in the preparatory phase, with construction expected to commence within the next 1-2 years.
Shanyao New Energy's integrated green power and green hydrogen project in Dengkou, Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, is a key initiative responding to this policy direction. The company will accelerate preliminary work to secure an early construction start.
